Introduction about victory day – Bijoy Dibosh

Victory is not an easy word, it came across the unlimited life. Many people lose their houses and family member for this victory. At that time I mean in 19971 most of my sister and mother were raped. That was a very sad story. After the victory, they forgot everything that they had faced. They were happy with the independence. They are the real heroes, we can never repay their debt.

Actually, this war started on 25 March 19971. Pakistani military force killed many sleeping Bangladeshi on that night. After this incident war began to start. It was a long war about nine months. Almost three million people lose their lives and many women were raped. After nine months of the bloody fight, we got a victory against Pakistan as they surrender to us with their all weapon. This day is the result of a historic war.

After the declaration of Independence and victory, new flag founded on map of world. Now we are freedom nation in the world. To remember this victory every year we celebrate this day with huge respect. On this day victory day is knocking at the door.

We celebrate this day by following many ways and tradition. On this morning we go to the Shahid Minar and arrange it with the flowers, after that we keep ourselves silent at least one minute. Actually their is no benefit of it. It’s just tradition. We should pray for their soul by praying Salah or keep fasting.

The administration of Bangladesh is divided into eight major regions called Divisions (বিভাগ). Each Division is named after the major city within its jurisdiction that also serves as the administrative headquarters of that division. Each division is further split into several districts (জেলা) which are then further sub-divided into Upazilas.

The divisions of Bangladesh are divided into 64 Districts, or Zila (জেলা). The districts are further subdivided into 504 sub-districts or towns, or Upazila (উপজেলা).

Following the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the country had four divisions: Chittagong Division, Dhaka Division, Khulna Division and Rajshahi Division.

In 1983, the English spelling of the Dacca Division (along with the name of the capital city) was changed into Dhaka to more closely match the Bengali pronunciation. In 1993, Barisal Division was split off from Khulna Division; in 1995, Sylhet Division was split off from Chittagong Division; and in 2010 (25 January), Rangpur Division was split off from Rajshahi Division, this latest creation consisting of the Rangpur and Dinajpur areas. In terms of area the newly formed Rangpur Division ranked fifth followed by Barisal and Sylhet division. On 14 September 2015 Mymensigh was added as eighth division.

The previous name of this district was Chandra Deep. There is no specific information at when the people had been started to live in Chandra Deep. There are various types of saying about the name Barisal. This district was famous for fish and salt. In 1757 when The British took the charge, they controlled the salt business here. There was a large salt factory was known as Borisalt to British people. By the rotation of time Borisalt turned into Barisal.

Gupto civilization came to this place after Mourjo civilizations. And just after came Shoshonanko civilizations then Horsho bordon, Joshu bordon, Pal, Modon, and Sen raj caste. Famous archaeologist Cunninghum thought that the name of the town Pabna could come from the name of the ancient town Pundro or Pundro Bordhon. So many melodious songs is created from Kustia. Its the father of folks songs. Basically there is a village as name kustia village. Thus kustia name is sourced from that kustia village.
Rangpur – রংপুর	1877 - ১৮৭৭	Badarganj, Gangachhara, Kaunia, Rangpur Sadar, Mithapukur, Pirgachha, Pirganj, Taraganj	Rangpur is an ancient place. Tista Duhit river is flowed beside Rangpur. The history on keeping name for Rangpur is not got yet. But there is a say that Rangpur name has been established from RANGOPUR by gradually.
Noakhali - নোয়াখালী	1821 - ১৮২১	Begumganj, Noakhali Sadar, Chatkhil, Companiganj, Hatiya, Senbagh, Sonaimuri, Subarnachar, Kabirhat	Meghna River is flowed on northern side of Noakhali district. The meghna is filled with Hilsha fishes.Hilsha fish available here over the whole year. Possibly many people has idea that Noakhali name is established from Noakhali Canal. Noakhlis another name is Bhulua.

There are different sayings about the origin of the name of khulna. But the most popular say is that there was a village named Kismat Khulna in the eastern side of the city and opposite to the river. By deducting Kismat the name khulna was established. However some says that the name khulna origins from the word Khulenshori Kali Mondir.

From that one is the most popular description which was described by Mofakharul Islam . From his description find that there was a community named Mokla lived in Kamari. The leader of the Mokla known as Tangai.By the rotation of time Tangai turned into Tangail.

Bhola - ভোলা	1980 - ১৯৮০	Bhola Sadar Burhanuddin Char Fasson Daulatkhan Lalmohan Manpura, Tazumuddin	Bhola district is surrounded by the water. This district is like an island. It is situated in the southern side of the country. According to historians the district is around 3000 years old. The name of the island Vola comes from the name of a famous fakir Vola Gazi.
Bandarban - বান্দরবান	1981 - ১৯৮১	Ali Kadam, Bandarban Sadar, Lama, Naikhongchhari, Rowangchhari, Ruma, Thanchi	Bandarban district is situated beside the Sangu river. The district has execellent natural beauty and various kinds of hills . After Boman king Sathan Pru came here, people came to live here. Many people thought that there was a water fall in the opposite side of the district. The monkeys went there for drinking water. When they crossed the river it seemed to a Dam Of Monkey. And thats why the name of the district is Bandarban.
Chandpur – চাঁদপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Chandpur Sadar, Faridganj, Haimchar, Haziganj, Kachua, Matlab Dakshin, Matlab Uttar, Shahrasti	Chandpur is situated in the end of Padma, Meghna, Dakatia, rivers. There is a discord on historical about the name of chandpur. Historic J N Gupt assumed that Chandpur name is sourced from land lord of Chand Roy. Again some people has idea chandpur name is come from saint Chand Fakir. Again Chand Merchant used to come to river port for trading. Possibly by his name this port has been Chandpur.
Habiganj – হবিগঞ্জ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Ajmiriganj, Bahubal, Baniyachong, Chunarughat, Habiganj Sadar, Lakhai, Madhabpur, Nabiganj	Hobigonj is called 12 saints land. Its enriched in natural assets. There are many coal mines in this district. And its one of the most remarkable tea produced district. Also its enriched in cultural activities.
Lakshmipur - লক্ষীপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Lakshmipur Sadar, Raipur, Ramganj, Ramgati, Kamalnagar	Laxmipur is situated in the joint centre of Bay of Bengal and Meghna. Many historians have different comments about name of Laxmipur. There was a king named Raja Gouro Kishor Ray Chowdhury om 1765. Laxmipur is named after Laxminarayan, a family member of Raja Gouro Kishor Ray Chowdhury.
Barguna – বরগুনা	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Amtali Bamna Barguna Sadar Betagi Patharghata Taltoli	Barguna or Borguna is very close to Bay of Bengal. Actually there did not get any specific information about the historical name of Borguna . But there is a different opinion that here wooden Traders were used to await until full moon (boro gon in bangla) for getting favorable time & tide and from that the name Borguna was originated. Besides there is a say that people used Bore gun( ROPE) against the tide thats why this place used to call BORGUNA. . Someone thought that Borguna was the name of a Mog or Bawali, so the name of this area is Borguna.
Jhalokati – ঝালকাঠি	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Jhalokati Sadar, Kathalia, Nalchity, Rajapur	Jhalakathi district has awesome natural beauty and fertile land . This district is situated at the south part of the country.
Pirojpur - পিরোজপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Bhandaria, Kawkhali, Mathbaria, Nazirpur, Pirojpur Sadar, Nesarabad (Swarupkati), Zianagor	Pirojpur is the name of a little district in the southern part of the country. Pirojpur is an island built by the silt of Bay Of Bengal. There is a different say that there was a man Named Firoz Shah who ruled in this area. By his name this palce was Firozpur. By the rotation of time Firozpur hasn been turned into Pirozpur.

Jhenaidah - ঝিনাইদহ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Harinakunda, Jhenaidah Sadar, Kaliganj, Kotchandpur, Maheshpur, Shailkupa	Different say that once in ancient on northern & western side of river some oyster puller labor used to make shelter. And that time oysters trader used to come here to purchase oyster for pearl. Gradually from oyster pulling this place has turned to well known place. The history for Name of Jinaidoh is doh is France word that means GRAM and JINUK is local word JINAI. And thus JINUK GRAM became JINAIDOH.
Narail – নড়াইল	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Kalia, Lohagara, Narail Sadar, Naragati	Narail is one of the smallest districts in our country. The social and cultural tradition of this district are very old. There are only three thanas in this district.
Magura – মাগুরা	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Magura Sadar, Mohammadpur, Shalikha, Sreepur	Magura is the name of an ancient and prosperous district. The history of this district is very old. The people of this district played as an important role in the Freedom Fight.
Lalmonirhat - লালমনিরহাট	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Aditmari Hatibandha Kaliganj Lalmonirhat Sadar Patgram	The history of Lalmonirhat is very rich. Many people view that in the British reign while cutting the forest for setting up railway lines the workers got LALMIN. From that the word Lalmonirhat was originated. Besides many view that revolted farmer leader Nuruldin, Fakir Moznu Shahs had a closest rich woman by whom the name Lalamonirhat has been originated.

Its history & information is not totally true but superficial & partly true.

Gaibandha name has been established from the historical famous king Birats Savana. Gaibandhas oldest name was Bhobanigonj. But there is no historical base in Gaibandha.
Thakurgaon - ঠাকুরগাঁ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Baliadangi Haripur Pirganj Ranisankail Thakurgaon Sadar	Thakurgaon is in the northeast corner of Bangladesh 467 km from Dhaka. Dinajpur is on its south, Panchagarh district to the east and India on its west and north sides, it is a part of the Himalayan plain land.
Satkhira – সাতক্ষিরা	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Assasuni, Debhata, Kalaroa, Kaliganj, Satkhira Sada, Shyamnagar, Tala	Satkhira is situated on the south-west side of the Bangladesh. There is a say that, the son of Binchuram named Pananth brought Sat ghor kulin Brammon in his area and settled with all facilities. From That Sat ghor we got Sat Ghoria and after rotation of time it changed into Satkhira.
Bagerhat - বাগেরহাট	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Bagerhat Sadar, Chitalmari, Fakirhat, Kachua, Mollahat, Mongla, Morrelganj, Rampal, Sarankhola	Bagerhat is situated in the heart of Bhoirab river & very close to natural beauty queen of Sundorban of north side of Bangladesh. Saint Khan Jahan Ali is founder of this district. Actually there is no evidence & historically base for sourcing name of this district. Once Bagerhat was filled with gardens. So this is Bagerhat. Besides this there have a man speech that Sundhorban is very close to and sometimes tigers were come and make tortured the people. Bagerhat was name that time. So bagerhat name has been come from that.
Chuadanga - চুয়াডাঙ্গা	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Alamdanga, Chuadanga Sadar, Damurhuda, Jibannagar	Where natural beauty, birds chirping and the wave of Mathavanga river blended all together- is Chuadanga. There is a different say about the name of Chuadanga. The name Chuadanga has come from a person name as Chungu Mallik.
Meherpur - মেহেরপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Gangni, Meherpur Sadar, Mujibnagar	Meherpur is very familiar to all because Freedom established centre & first temporary capital of Mujibnagar. It is situated on the bank of Bhoirab river & carry historical witness. In the period of sixteenth century there was a saint Meher Ali Shah who founded the Meherpur district as a man said. And thus Meherpur has been named by his name.
Sirajganj - সিরাজগঞ্জ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Belkuchi Chauhali Kamarkhanda Kazipur Raiganj Shahjadpur Sirajganj Sadar Tarash Ullahpara	In the reign of Nawab the Landlord Siraj Chowdhury founded the town of Sirajgong. And accordingly by his name Sirajgong has been established on bank of Jamuna.
Joypurhat - জয়পুরহাট	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Akkelpur Joypurhat Sadar Kalai Khetlal Panchbibi	Joypurhat is enriched in history & tradition. Source Name of Joypurhat has been established by the name of King JOYPAL. It is ever time famous for showing heroism from language Revolution to freedom fight in historically. Joypur hat is consist of 5 thanas.
Natore – নাটোর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Bagatipara Baraigram Gurudaspur Lalpur Natore Sadar Singra Naldanga	The traditional history of Natore is very old. Natore is very famous for the queen poem of Banolata Sen.
Naogaon – নওগাঁ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Atrai Badalgachhi Manda Dhamoirhat Mohadevpur Naogaon Sadar Niamatpur Patnitala Porsha Raninagar Sapahar	Naoga is enriched in historically. Basically there is no historical information about the naming of Naoga.But once Naoga constructed with 9 localities. And thus all 9 villages gathered made as Naoga.
Nawabganj - নওয়াবগঞ্জ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Bholahat Gomastapur Nachole Nawabganj Sadar Shibganj	Once Nawabgonj was a thana under the district Maldoh. After division of India in 1947 Maldoh became under Rajshahi. Afterwards Chapainawabgonj is established as a district. About making name of Chapainawabgonj there had been different saying that is - during ruling of Nawab Alibordi Khan this palace was amusement for Nawabs family. Nawab & his stuffs are used to come here for hunting. And Nawab used to come regular to this Place thats why this place is called for Nawabgonj. There was Moheshpur village far away 10 t0 12 km from nawabgonj and there lived a beauty queen dancer CHAMPABOTI. Chapia name is come from Chmapaboti. And she became favorite to Nawabs for dancing. And thus Chapainawabgonj name has become according to her names. Many people cherish this idea.
